The first version of the SimplBooks payroll module is currently under development, and once released, it will integrate seamlessly with the rest of the system. When processing payroll, all related entries will be transferred automatically to your bookkeeping and will appear instantly in reports such as the income statement and balance sheet. The module will also calculate holiday and sick pay automatically based on predefined rules, making payroll processing faster and more accurate than ever. Payroll will be available in the Plus and Office plans.
With the release, you will gain access to:
- A register of employees, salaries and payments
- A calendar for holidays and sick leave
- Creation and emailing of payslips (PDF)
- Payroll calculation either individually or for all employees at once

Calendar for annual leave and sick leave
The payroll module includes a comprehensive calendar where you can record annual leave, sick leave and other important dates. These entries are automatically taken into account when calculating payroll for the current period, meaning that holidays and sick leave are reflected directly in the calculated pay. The calendar helps maintain a clear overview and ensures payroll is always based on up-to-date information.
Payroll for multiple employees
In SimplBooks, you can calculate payroll for employees individually or process several employees at once. This is especially useful for businesses where employees work under similar terms or have a fixed salary. By using this feature, routine clicking is reduced and payroll processing becomes significantly faster.
Preparation of payslips
SimplBooks automatically generates a payslip for each payroll entry. You can download the payslip as a PDF or send it directly to the employee via email. The payslip clearly shows how the salary is calculated and which deductions have been applied.
Annual leave report
How many unused vacation days do you or your employees have left? The SimplBooks leave report displays this information at a glance. You can view the accrual of leave for past, current and upcoming periods. The report automatically takes into account the employment start date and the events recorded in the employee calendar, ensuring the information is always accurate.

We will be releasing the payroll module in stages. This means the essential payroll features will be available right away, even though not everything will be fully polished yet. We’d like to emphasise that the module will be reliable from day one, and we will continue developing it step by step based on user needs.
After the first version, our goals include adding features such as electronic payslip delivery, integration with the Income Register, and increased automation for payroll processing and event handling. Development will continue actively after the release, and we will update the module as new features become available.
